Hippie Hill

A blend of 61% Mourvèdre, 17% Syrah, 13% Zinfandel, and 9% Grenache, Hippie Hill 2023 fruit was harvested in late October at optimum ripeness to retain acid, structure and color. Our CCOF Certified Organic Thibido Vineyard is approaching an impressive maturity in every bottle. Hand harvested at the end of a perfect growing season, the grapes enjoyed a long, temperate ripening during ideal conditions of the 2023 vintage. Once picked, fermentation took place in open-top fermenters using native yeasts, with gentle hand punch-downs guiding extraction and balance. After pressing, the wine was aged in both new and neutral French oak barrels to enhance structure while preserving the energy of the fruit.

In the glass, Hippie Hill shows a medium to dark purple core. Aromas unfold with layers of blackberry, muddled violets, anise, pencil shavings, smoked meats, and chocolate-covered cherries, grounded by earthy notes of crushed rock. Upon first sip, a delightfully full roundness bursting with strawberries, blueberries, bing cherry, and a hint of spice. The wine is rich and welcoming with subtle coffee notes that add intrigue along with mild tannins which offer structure without heaviness. The finish is long, polished, and slightly drying, lingering on the palate with rich and savory flavors.

This wine pairs well with grilled filet mignon and rosemary or a rich mushroom pasta to highlight the wine’s earthy, fruit-forward character. We love it with a hearty stew or the perfect smash burger hot off the grill.
